Diabetes injection technique initiative launched

Nursing experts responsible for developing the original diabetes injection recommendations have reforned with a remit to continue the dissemination of good practice.

The initiative ‘Injection Technique Matters (ITM) – Best Practice in Diabetes Care’ was launched at this year’s Diabetes Professional Care conference, which took place at Olympia London on November 14 and 15.

The board includes Chair Debbie Hicks, a Nurse Consultant in Diabetes, Dr Debra Adams, Senior Infection Prevention and Control Advisor, and Jane Diggle, Specialist Practice Nurse, and Carole Gelder, CYP Diabetes Nurse Specialist..

The team launched the new Injection Technique Matters guideline and also the new Injection Technique Matters Toolkit on World Diabetes Day 14/11/18 .

Debbie, who is a Nurse Consultant in Diabetes, said: “It was an exciting and proud moment when we announced that B Braun, GlucoRx and Owen Mumford are part of the new vision entitled Injection Technique Matters (ITM) – Best Practice in Diabetes Care.

“We held several sessions during the Diabetes Professional Care Conference within the TREND-UK and Injection Technique Theatre and gave out thousands of the Injection Technique Matters Toolkit.”

This initiative is recognised and endorsed by Diabetes UK, Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Sanofi and AstraZeneca.

Injection Technique Matters is managed under the well-recognised and respected TREND-UK organisation. It has been made possible thanks to educational sponsorship.
